Family: Apogonidae (cardinalfishes), about 370 species worldwide.
Size: To 8.5 cm
Distribution: Distributed throughout much of the western Pacific Ocean, from Java to Fiji, and from the Ryukyu Islands south to the Great Barrier Reef.
Status: Low vulnerability Habitat: They are nocturnal, spending the day in dark crevices within the reef.
